Deniz Uz Finalist in Schweizer Competition

For those who know him, Deniz is a rather shy, unassuming 17-year-old. But when Deniz sits down at the organ, all the shyness is gone; this young thoroughbred plays circles around the competition.

Congratulations, Deniz, for placing among the top 3 finalists in the Albert Schweizer organ playing competition, which is open to organists from all over the United States. Deniz began organ lessons in Summer 2007 with Dr. Yount, and spent the next 2 years on scholarship at Interlochen Arts Academy studying with Daniel Bara. This summer, while studying organ in the Rollins Community Music School, he will travel to Philadelphia to again participate in the Kimmel Center for the Arts summer organ camp for high school organists.

We are truly proud of you, Deniz. Keep up the thoroughbred routine, it wins competitions....
